Safety Warning

Healthylife warns you about the risks of Xenical Orlistat (120mg) 84 capsules. If you are in need of specific information regarding you, Healthylife Pharmacy can help.

Xenical is to treat people who are overweight or obese. This medicine works by targeting the absorption of dietary fat in your body rather than suppressing your appetite.

Dietary fats are large molecules that need to be broken down before they can be absorbed into the body. They are broken down by enzymes called lipases. That is, lipases play an important role in the digestion of dietary fat. When taken with a meal, Xenical interferes with the activity of these enzymes. This allows about 30% of the fat eaten in the meal to pass through the gut undigested. Therefore, your body cannot store these excess calories as fatty tissue or use them as a source of energy. This helps you to reduce your weight by burning up fat that you are already carrying, maintain your lower weight and minimise any weight regain. Losing even small amounts of weight and keeping it off produces additional health benefits for you, especially when you are at risk for other diseases such as heart disease and diabetes. Xenical can also help to improve risk factors, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and high blood sugar. If these are not treated, they could lead to other diseases such as hypertension and diabetes. Xenical should be taken in conjunction with a well-balanced calorie-controlled diet and other appropriate measures such as exercise.Active Ingredients:Xenical does not contain sucrose, gluten, tartrazine or any other azo dyes. Frequently asked questions

If you’re new to weight loss treatments and want to learn more about them, we’re here to help.

How do weight loss tablets work?

Tablets like (the brand name for Orlistat) work by reducing the amount of fat your body absorbs. Ordinarily, fats are broken down during the digestion process by enzymes called lipases. Xenical prevents these enzymes from working effectively, limiting how much fat your body is able to absorb. The remaining, undigested fat is then excreted.

How do weight loss injections work?

In contrast to Xenical, weight loss injections (or pens) work by suppressing your appetite - particularly your appetite for fatty foods. Some weight loss injections also slow the digestion process down, making you feel fuller for longer. They’re simple to use - check out our for more information.

How effective are weight loss treatments?

Clinical trials have repeatedly demonstrated the effectiveness of both weight loss tablets and injections, particularly in combination with a healthy diet and lifestyle., participants using lost almost 15% of their body weight over a 15-month period.

Lupin, the capsule

Incorporating a new anti-obesity drug, known as a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist, into the body can lead to weight loss. Recent clinical studies show that GLP-1 therapy is effective in reducing body weight in overweight and obese individuals, with patients also gaining a lower body weight.

The new drug, called lupin, is a prescription-only anti-obesity medication that contains a novel semisynthetic amino acid, L-valine.

The first version of lupin was developed in the 1970s and sold under the trade name Xenical. It has been available in capsule form since the late 1990s.

The clinical studies

The first trial was carried out on patients suffering from obesity in combination with a GLP-1 agonist. The trial was conducted with healthy patients who had been treated with lupin for a period of one year. The first trial was conducted on patients who had been treated with a GLP-1 receptor agonist for 12 months. The study was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Hospital in Heiligen, Germany (LipaS-2, 02/06/09).

A second trial was conducted on patients who had been treated with lupin for two years. After 12 months, patients were asked to keep an updated daily dose of the prescribed amount of lupin as a single daily dose. The dose was reduced or increased according to their weight-related symptoms and the patients were asked to continue taking the prescribed amount of lupin for 12 months. The patients were asked to continue taking lupin for 12 months.

A third study, called lupin vs. lorcet, was designed to compare the effects of lupin vs. lorcet in patients with overweight and obese patients.

The lupin vs lorcet study included healthy participants who had been treated with a GLP-1 receptor agonist and a prescription-only anti-obesity drug. The lupin study was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Hospital in Heiligen, Germany (LipaS-2, 02/06/09).

Results

In the lupin study, patients were given a GLP-1 receptor agonist for a period of one year, after which they were given a low dose of lupin. The dose of lupin decreased by more than 5% after two years, and there was no evidence of an effect on the weight-related side effects.

The lupin study showed that the body weight of overweight and obese participants was lower in patients treated with lupin compared with the other three groups. However, there was a greater weight loss at the end of the second year of treatment. Patients were also asked to keep an updated daily dose of lupin for 12 months.

Lupin, the capsule, showed a more pronounced weight loss in the overweight and obese participants compared to the other three study groups. No clinically significant effects were observed on the weight-related side effects.
