The first version of lupin was developed in the 1970s and sold under the trade name Xenical. It has been available in capsule form since the late 1990s.
The first trial was carried out on patients suffering from obesity in combination with a GLP-1 agonist. The trial was conducted with healthy patients who had been treated with lupin for a period of one year.
